Heavily armed police patrol New York
AMERICA remains on high alert this morning following a report of a credible threat to the US on the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, warning its enemies “mess with us and we will come and get you”.
US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta warned America’s response to 9/11 showed that “you don’t mess” with the United States and said his country wouldn’t stand for any attacks.
The former CIA director, who oversaw the raid that killed al-Qaeda mastermind Osama bin Laden on May 2, said the 9/11 hijackers underestimated the country.

Terror attack fear grips NY
CEREMONIES to mark the 9/11 attacks have begun as the US beefs up security amid a new terror threat.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said there was news “of a specific, credible, but unconfirmed report that Al-Qaeda, again, is seeking to harm Americans and, in particular, to target New York and Washington.”
Memories remain raw in New York, and across the country, of the day on September 11, 2001, when Al-Qaeda hijackers slammed three passenger planes into the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon, in the nation’s capital.
